Industrial Safety & Compliance.

Keeping industry safe. Keeping businesses moving.

Across the UK, specialist businesses play an essential role in keeping industrial workplaces, machinery and equipment safe, compliant and operational.

From statutory inspections and lifting equipment testing to machinery safety, pressure systems and specialist compliance services, these businesses help customers manage risk, protect their people and maintain critical operations.

Essential expertise. Critical operations.

Industrial safety isn’t simply about completing inspections or issuing certificates. It’s about protecting people, preventing equipment failures and keeping operations running safely.

Behind these essential services are experienced engineers, inspectors and technical specialists whose knowledge, judgement and customer relationships have been built over many years.

At Phixr, we’re looking to acquire and grow exceptional Industrial Safety & Compliance businesses, supporting their expertise, people and reputation while creating opportunities for the future.

Our areas of interest

Different disciplines. Shared importance.

Some companies focus on one discipline, building deep expertise within a particular market. Others provide a broader range of complementary inspection, testing and compliance services.

We’re interested in both. What matters is the quality of the business you’ve built, the expertise of your team and the trust you’ve earned.

What we value

What makes a great industrial compliance business?

Exceptional companies can’t be reduced to a single financial formula. There are, however, qualities we particularly value.

Size guideline

We’re particularly interested in established businesses with approximately £2m or more in annual revenue, although we also consider smaller specialist operators with attractive characteristics. This is a guideline, not a minimum requirement.

We know there’s more to an industrial compliance business than its turnover.

Statutory inspection vs specialist projects.

A business built around recurring LOLER or PSSR examinations differs from one delivering complex machinery safety projects or engineering assessments. We understand the value of both.

Deep specialists vs broader providers.

A highly regarded NDT specialist or occupational hygiene business can be just as interesting as one providing several complementary industrial compliance services.

Revenue vs business quality.

Inspector qualifications, customer retention, technical accreditations, reliable reporting and strong operational processes all influence how we assess a potential acquisition.

We take the time to understand what makes your business different.

What size of Industrial Safety & Compliance businesses is Phixr looking to acquire?

We’re particularly interested in established businesses with approximately £2 million or more in annual revenue, although this is a guideline rather than a strict requirement. We also consider recurring revenue, customer relationships, technical expertise, management capability and opportunities for growth. Smaller specialist businesses may also be of interest where there’s a strong strategic fit.

Does my business need to provide all six services?

Not at all. We’re interested in businesses with genuine expertise in one or more industrial safety and compliance disciplines. A specialist LOLER inspection company, pressure systems examiner or NDT provider can be just as interesting as a broader industrial compliance business.

Does Phixr acquire businesses focused on statutory inspections?

Yes. Businesses delivering recurring statutory inspections and engineering examinations are particularly interesting to us. We also consider businesses offering machinery safety assessments, specialist testing, remedial works and other technical services.

Does my business need to have recurring contracts?

No. Recurring inspection and maintenance revenue is attractive because it provides visibility and customer continuity, but we recognise the value of repeat assignments, specialist projects and other forms of technical service revenue. We assess the overall quality and sustainability of the business.

What qualifications and accreditations does Phixr look for?

The relevant qualifications, certifications and accreditations depend on the services your business provides. For example, an NDT specialist may rely on personnel certification such as PCN or other recognised schemes, while an inspection business may operate under different competence, quality or accreditation arrangements. We assess the requirements appropriate to each business rather than applying one universal checklist.

What happens to our technical accreditations after an acquisition?

Relevant certifications, accreditations and technical approvals are important parts of a specialist business. We would review the applicable requirements during due diligence and work with the business to understand how they can be maintained following a transaction, including any required notifications, approvals or reassessments.

Will my company keep its name?

We recognise that a company’s name and reputation can represent decades of hard work. Our approach is to respect established business identities and customer relationships rather than assume every company should immediately adopt a single group brand. Any proposed changes would be discussed as part of the acquisition process.

What happens to our inspectors, engineers and management team?

People are fundamental to the success of specialist industrial service businesses. Our ambition is to support and develop the teams that make these companies successful, while maintaining their expertise and customer relationships. Specific employment and organisational arrangements would be considered as part of each transaction.

Can I remain involved after selling my business?

Yes, potentially. Some owners want a clean exit, others prefer a structured transition, and some want to continue leading their company. We aim to explore a transaction structure that works for the owner, the business and the wider group.

How does Phixr value an Industrial Safety & Compliance business?

Valuations are considered individually. Factors can include maintainable profitability, recurring inspection revenue, customer concentration, technical capability, management strength, financial performance and future growth opportunities. We typically assess underlying earnings and the overall quality of operations rather than relying on turnover alone.

Do I need to be actively looking to sell before speaking to Phixr?

No. Many owners begin exploring their options well before they’re ready to make a decision. We’re interested in meeting people who’ve built excellent businesses, understanding their ambitions and seeing whether there might be an opportunity to work together in the future.
